As a reporter with the Cartwright Edition, Janice Harper watches as law enforcement officials escort convicted murderer Carmen Walker from the courthouse. As cameras flash and voices from the crowd yell questions, Janice grows uneasy. She's been granted an exclusive interview with the woman now on death row, but she isn't sure it's the safest thing to do. After all, Carmen killed all five of her husbands. After a couple of discussions with Carmen, Janice's unease begins to disappear. It's the interview of a lifetime, one that will cement her career. She is surprised when Carmen also asks her to write her autobiography. How can Janice refuse? During the course of writing Carmen's story, Janice finds her once perfect life falling apart. As she delves deeper into her investigation, she begins to lose her identity. Before long, some of the same facets of Carmen's life begin to appear in Janice's. But when Janice discovers her husband in the arms of another woman, Carmen's life takes on a whole new meaning.
